Orange

What a perfect color choice for the month of November! Here in South-Central PA the colors continue to be rich and deep.

This year, we were blessed by a friend to pick pumpkins at her family’s farm. The bright sun, crisp air, and gorgeous backdrop enhanced the experience of family and discovery, caring and creativity…

Lydia was SO proud of herself that she discovered a HUGE pumpkin. Boy, was she in for a surprise! As soon as she moved it a mother mouse with her babies still attached scurried from underneath it. As the momma ran, the little ones fell off. The kids and Mark carefully collected them and placed them back into the nest.

They then watched as the momma mouse followed the squeaking cries of her babies and returned to the nest for them! She quickly, one-by-one, carried them to a new location (safely away from my crazy children). It was awesome to see her heart for her little ones, her courageous act of protection and care. And a blessing for us to witness it…

Then back to the choices. Choices. Choices.

And a little dancing with their shadows 😉

Oh, and seeing how many pumpkins he could leap over.

Daddy declared they could choose any pumpkin if they could figure out how to get it to the car. Here he instructs them on the rolling method. I appreciated the kids’ determination…

Oh, and I promise his hat was not “planned”. I actually tease him about it because it’s a hunting cap. He doesn’t hunt. Go figure. 😉

We had a tradition, since Lydia was just a couple weeks old, of taking a family photo during our pumpkin picking adventure. Sometimes the “set up” pics capture some awesome connection. ❤

I happened to be in a Lensbaby photo challenge so I made a quick switch for our final pic of the morning.

Mark and I had a lot on our minds this day. We had been in a car accident and were contemplating issues with insurance agencies and rental cars and finding a replacement car and finances. This opportunity offered a bit of escape and a renewal of gratitude for innumerable gifts. ❤

  2. What a beautifully documented fall adventure, Elizabeth! My favourite images are of your son and the sun flare and the little mouse discovery. No doubt this adventure will live on in your children’s minds forever. ❤ Love, Jenn xo Pretty Pixels Photography
